Abstract:
Analysis of long-term data as well as fresh collection of physico-chemical measures of streams and macrozoobenthos in Macun. Data will be used to compare with sites measured in 2002 (by C. Robinson and S. Matthaei) and with long-term data collected since 2000 (10 standard monitoring sites). Additional analysis of the data of one year recorded by the EXO-sonde at Immez outlet. All this will also include analysis of lake position effects. Macrozoobenthos data will be compared to older samples and examined for long-term trends with special focus on the past few years that displayed a change in dynamics. Search for possible explanations and prediction of future trends. Some changes are expected in the physico-chemical parameters, especially an increase in mean temperature (especially in those streams strongly affected by ambient temperature). As a consequence, also a change in macrozoobenthos composition is expected with a trend to more heat-tolerant species.
Leading questions:
What are the long-term trends and changes in dynamics across an alpine stream-lake network with focus on physico-chemical measures and makrozoobenthos?
