Abstract:
Numerous studies have tried to evaluate the grazing pressure exerced by ungulates on alpine grasslands in the Swiss National Park. However no such study has focused its attention on Lepidoptera, even if they are a very sensitive group. Indeed, butterflies are very reactive to environmental changes because of the strong relationship they have with the surrounding vegetation.
The aim of this study is to quantify the impact of deers on Rhopalocera in the Swiss National Park.
The method developed by Besson (1998) will be used to make a census of Rhopalocera species in the Val Trupchun (altitude :1900-2200 meters), where density of deers is important.
Finally, this study will be integrated in a long term monitoring.
