Specialties of Pascal Boivin:
Loop Interactions between organic carbon dynamic and soil physical properties
The soil organic carbon (SOC) content may increase or decrease with agricultural practices. This is susceptible of mitigating a large part of the CO2 release in the coming decades, accoridng to optimistic scenarii (no-till practices). However, the temperature increase will decrease the SOC content, thus releasing CO2 to the atmosphere. A change in SOC content changes the soil physical properties, and this has a feed-back effect on the later SOCdynamic. This feedback is not accounted for in climate change models. We provide the basic knowledge for that.We provide new methods for soil structure assessment in connection with Organic Carbon content. We develop methods to increase soil organic carbon content in cropped soils.
