Abstract:
The project TWW (dry grassland in Switzerland) establishes a method of inventoring the dry grassland in Switzerland. It includes a wide approach by recording the vegetation type, a species-list, the faunistic potential, the floristic potential and the fauna-related structures. Within 12 years the most important surfaces (160'000 ha) and about 4000 objects of existing inventories will be examinated by a team of botanists. A sophisticated analyse of air photographs and a GPS-oriented species analysis make the result of the inventory of dry grasslands more confidential than former inventories.

Leading questions:
Which are the most important surfaces of dry grassland in Switzerland?

How can we protect and save the different aspects of biodiversity in dry grassland by means of governmental incitements?
