Abstract:
The MSc thesis describes the actual state and organization (co-operative, private etc) of sheep summering (i.e. upland grazing during summer) in the Regional Wildlife Park Gantrisch. In addition, criteria to eveluate the sustainability of sheep summering are defined, based on which the sustainability of selected farms are assessed. Recommendations for a more sustainable management are developed for the investigated farms. A major emphasis is placed on the inclusion of relevant actors (Wildlife Park, sheep farmers, gamekeepers, forestry and agriculture) in order to achieve a broad participation and a possible implementation of the recommendations.
