Abstract:

The study explores the acceptance among local population affected by the planned Biosfera Val Müstair - Parc Naziunal. Findings of extended empirical research (mainly via interviews) illustrate high expectations of locals re the planned Biosphere Reserve as well as a high grade of acceptance already before legal implementation.
The study is valuable for further planning in the respective area as well as for planning of other Biosphere Reserves or similar large protected areas in the Alps.
