Abstract:
The pressure on nature has intensified in recent years; outdoor recreation entered new spaces continuously. This issue is discussed in debates such as localisation of wildlife protection zones, "soft forms of leisure and tourism" and intensive use tourism or conflicts in natural spaces near agglomerations.
With the management toolkit MAFREINA (german: Management-Toolkit Freizeit und Natur; management toolkit outdoor recreation and nature), modular instruments will be developed, which allow to discover critical areas of use in the nature spatially and temporally. This detection of the current situation, the simulation of the agents’ behaviour in future and the effects of management decisions are fundamentals to increase the planning reliability. Results are optimised leisure facilities (such as hiking-trails), conflict reductions in the environmental field and cost savings due to bad planning.
