Specialties of Manfred Stähli:
Impact of climate change on (sub)alpine snow and water resources
One of the main research fields of the Research Unit Mountain Hydrology and Torrents at WSL concerns the natural snow and water resources in the alpine and subalpine areas of Switzerland. Within this context we investigate the following questions: How will climate change alter the seasonal variation of the snow and water resources and fluxes in forested and non-forested areas, and how will sediment transport in streams and the water availability for hydropower production be affected? A particular focus is on the early recognition of low-flow and drought situations.
