Specialties of Renato Spahni:
Modeling the terrestrial biosphere and emissions of CO2 and CH4
A dynamical global vegetation model is used to derive past, present and future changes in the carbon cycle of the terrestrial biosphere. The process based model allows further to quantify surface fluxes of carbon dioxide and methane. The goal is to understand the underlying biogeochemical processes and estimate the impact of and feedback on climate change.
