General information and objectives

The activities of the program are organized around four themes:
  • biological and ecological processes;
  • sustainable management of natural resources;
  • capacity building; and
  • communication and information (MAB, 1995).

    These activities are developed for a number of model biogeographical components, including tropical, arid and semi-arid, temperate and mediterranean, and mountain ecosystems; coastal zones and islands; cold regions; and urban and rural systems.
