Objectives of START-South-Asia: Among the regions of the world, South Asia is one of the most sensitive to global climate change, population growth, and rapid industrialization/urbanization. The region depends heavily on the variable regional monsoon as well as water derived from glacial melt in the Himalayas; both of these are affected by climatic change. Critical concerns in the South Asia region include food and water security, air quality, sustainable development, and vulnerability to impacts of climate change.Mission and Objectives of SAS-RC:
